The firm partnered with Howard University in 2009 to serve as a special financial advisor to its president. In this capacity, it assessed the school’s overall financial health and provided a diagnostic report to the Board of Trustees. This effort launched an ongoing working relationship with Howard University, with Right Advisory president Robert M. Tarola serving as chief financial officer, chief administrative officer, and treasurer of the board, while vice president V. Bridget Sarikas assumed the roles of deputy chief financial officer and operations leader for grants administration and facilities management.
Howard University contracted the firm to temporarily manage its financial operations with the goal of implementing overall improvements to its accounting practices. Right Advisory assisted the university for four fiscal years, from June 2010 to June 2013. During this time, the firm facilitated Howard’s first year of positive operating results following two consecutive years of significant financial deficits and three more positive years thereafter.
